India’s booming economy signals a major spurt in the consumption of energy for growth and development. Coal being an important energy source, is receiving renewed focus to be able to keep up with the pace of required production. Accurate geological assessment, proper planning to access and win the coal seam, maintaining the safety norms, compliances with statutory norms, socio-political management, economical and eco-friendly winning of resources and conservation of resources are the major mining challenges.
